Circa 1960’s egg chair
Whether anchoring a statement corner, defining a cosy reading nook, or elevating a living space this is a uniquely upholstered sculptural and supremely comfortable chair
Fully stripped back and re-upholstered in a Navy boucle wool by the fabulous Perthshire Isle Mill, with a luxurious cotton velvet by Blackpop UK on the seat cushion and buttons. Both amazing British luxury fabric suppliers with great ranges that I love working with as an upholsterer.
Original wooden swivel base and adjustable feet. The wood has been stripped back and varnished, whilst the feet have had a simple clean. Some signs of aging on these, as would be expected, as these are originals.
From photo research, I believe the chair is by Greaves and Thomas, a London based furniture maker whose furniture from the 1960s mirrored the style of modernist Danish designers. A stunning and iconic design investment piece suitable for contemporary living.
